After reading this article, you will not see your mind in the same way

It is the surprising facts, the great discoveries, those that agitate us and make our life divided between before and after, those that have the power to make us grow. In this article we are going to present you a story that has all the ingredients so that after listening to it you have the feeling that you have gone through one of those moments.

I felt something like this when I saw the revealing lecture by Harvard University neurologist and doctor Jill Bolte Taylor. The truth is that no matter how much I try to summarize the Conference, it is best for you to see it.

In it, in addition to explaining some things about the brain and the difference between the left and right hemisphere with a real brain that he presents on stage and that arouses the laughter of many of the attendees, he tells us about his incredible experience.

Jill decided to study Neuroanatomy because her brother suffered from schizophrenia and she wanted to know, understand, what happened between a “normal” brain and a brain affected by mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder …

Who was going to tell her that one day she would wake up with a strange sensation that turned out to be a cerebral stroke, from which she would not fully recover until after 8 years and that for her it was an incredible experience. Yes as you hear it …

In a pleasant and simple way, he explains the clear symptoms that identify a stroke. If you look at his talk, everything he tells us in a clear way that was happening to him since he woke up until he started doing his exercises, got in the shower and felt all this:  altered level of consciousness and sudden confusion, Sudden loss of strength in an arm or leg, speech problems, does not understand what they are saying (Jill tells how she called a colleague and only heard him say “gua gua gua”), loss of vision, severe headache, loss of balance and coordination, difficulty walking, and tingling.

Jill tells us how her left hemisphere disconnected, lost her perception of reality and how her right hemisphere gave her a feeling of peace, happiness. .. that she herself qualifies as Nirvana.  It was incredible and for her it was a revealing, mystical and profound experience that she had to tell the world …

Thus,  her stress and worries disappeared and she had a silent mind that did not bother her, she was amazed herself and said it’s great! Losing 37 years of emotional charge is so liberating! But I don’t have time to suffer a stroke! …

After this experience, Jill invites us to be masters of our life, to be ourselves the ones to make life easier for us without overly complicating ourselves, to disconnect our left hemisphere… We have the power to disconnect!

Really between crying and laughing, Jill manages to move us and make us reflect on the true meaning of life. Direct reflection on how sometimes we seem to need a wake-up call to realize how lucky we are …

Regarding this article and this revealing conference I would like to humbly encourage you and from my position and thanks to the opportunity that social networks offer me to express myself; If you suffered a stroke or has suffered some familiar ye see your conference, speak with your loved ones for fear that you felt or still feel, expresaos frankly, weep when they need and lean on one shoulder friend.

And it is that always… there is always someone willing to help you and understand you.

We also leave you this interesting PDF where you can inform yourself about everything related to stroke and that is that the more information we have on any subject, the better everything will be.
